Like most artists, many things have influenced and shaped my creative sensibilities since childhood. Now and then, I’ll be sharing various images of the stuff that has made an impression on me and still continues to inspire.
I grew up in a home with parents that were artists, so I was very lucky to be exposed to a variety of art from all different periods in art history. My father has always had a great library of art books including GRAPHIS, an international art magazine that had a lot of fantastic imagery and terrific graphic design. It first exposed me to things like the work of Polish poster artist Franciszek Starowieyski for example. There were also the Time-Life Books “Great Ages of Man” collection. One of my favorites was “The Renaissance”. To my eyes as a child, I found these masterworks of art strange and a bit unsettling. In addition to this, I was a huge monster movie fan and began to read Famous Monsters of Filmland magazine published by James Warren. I love all of these dearly and still look at them today.
